Conner Burns, returned to his hometown of Natchez in 2001 after spending two years as Artist-in-Residence for Steven Hill at Red Star Studios in Kansas City, Missouri. In 2003 Conner opened Burns Pottery and established his studio, gallery and clay teaching studio. By 2007 Burns Pottery had grown to become a respected clay facility across the nation. Burns changed the studio name to Natchez Clay to more accurately represent the total group of artists and their contributions.
In 2008, after five years of splitting his time between his own work and the administration of Natchez Clay, Conner sold the studio to two of his students and returned to being a full-time clay artist. Conner continues to teach classes and workshops at Natchez Clay, and is still very much a part of our clay community.
New owners, Donna Jones and Jacque Stahlman, relocated the studio to the Natchez bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River. The new facilities include both private and shared studio spaces, classes, workshops and periodic gallery sales of community clay artists' work.
