In November our studio was host to over 20 kids for the 1st Kids Christmas Workshop. The kids made their angels and ornaments one day, then returned a week later to paint them in colorful acrylic paints. After a clearcoat of acrylic to seal them, we will put a hanger on each ornament and package them in a gift bag for each child. The gift bags will be delivered to their schools before Christmas.
Our friend, Ben Hillyer, dropped by the studio during one session of the workshop and took some great photos of the kids in action. We were delighted to find them on the front page of the Natchez Democrat the next day. To see Ben's photos click the links below.
Thanks to Ben Hillyer and the Natchez Democrat for their continued support of the arts and for activities for our youth.
"Aren't all your bowls empty?" This is a common question for anyone who hasn't been to an Empty Bowls event! Here's how it works.
Buy a $25 ticket from any Natchez Clay studio member...or from the studio at the corner of Clifton and Madison. You'd better buy it in advance, because this event is usually a sellout!
Bring your ticket to Natchez Clay on Sunday, February 13 between 11 AM and 1 PM. You get to choose your any bowl from hundreds of beautiful handmade bowls created by local potters. We'll fill it with delicious gumbo. Top that off with cornbread and a beverage, and you have a simple meal while you are donating money to the Natchez Community Stewpot.
We'll have tables set up behind our studio so you can enjoy your gumbo while overlooking the Mighty Mississippi, or we'll bag it up so you can take it to-go. Either way you get to take home your bowl!
Empty Bowls events are held throughout the world, and millions of dollars have been raised to combat hunger. Let your bowl be a reminder that there are hungry people in our own community that need our help.
To purchase tickets, email us or talk to any of our Natchez Clay studio members. Or you can become a sponsor for only $100.
